XYPLOT is a utility to provide a simple plotting capability for IRIS series workstations. It is designed to fulfill most common plotting requirements while maintaining a simple user interface.

User input can come from pop-up menus, the command line, single keystrokes, or interactive prompting. Users input data to XYPLOT via columns of ascii text. The output can be displayed on the screen, saved in a PostScript or Encapsulated PostScript file, or saved as a format (.fmt) file which holds the state of the plot (labels, scale, etc.).

Colors, labels, and placement of legends can all be user defined. Line styles, such as solid and dashed, as well as eight line colors are available. To represent data points, the user can select from a large number of plotting symbols such as bullets, circles, and stick type symbols.

XYPLOT allows titles to be defined for the main graph and the 'x' and 'y' axes. Construction of legend boxes is supported. Data can be plotted on either a linear, log, or semi-log scale. Autoscaling and handscaling options are available. XYPLOT allows the user direct control of plot aspect ratio.

The optimal built-in usage monitor allows tracking of usage of obsolete versions of XYPLOT, usage of the current version, and changes in usage due to changes in code.
XYPLOT carries the NASA Case Number ARC-13369. It was originally released as part of the NASA COSMIC collection.
